A New Look – Kahn Korman House – 2025
Twenty years after the Glenn Holsten documentary House, Larry Korman has given us a new video look at the Kahn Korman House, designed by Louis I. Kahn in the early 1970s. The new video shows the recent exterior restoration of siding and brick consistent with the original Kahn design, new interior designs by Jennifer Post throughout the house, a new pool house design by Edward Asfour, a tranquility garden and water feature by David Rubin replacing the tennis court, updated sculpture gardens, a formalized approach to the house, and an extensive landscape expansion and improvement.
The thoughtful, careful, and respectful second phase of restorations has been over 20 years in the making, guided by Larry Korman’s recurring question, What would Louis Kahn want?
As Kahn said, “Joy will prevail.” Larry Korman echoes these words in the video commentary, “So there is great joy. I do get in this house in the morning, in the evening, in the middle of the day, knowing that my family–both the family I grew up with, and the family that I raised here with my wife–that we all get to continue to enjoy and respect this house and share it with many others.”
Video production by Larry Korman and Bob Mahon. The videographer and editor is Rich Hall.
